Looking for cheap recommended hotel in Barcelona
As our Europe planning has geared up for our May trip we're finding that we've got to cut back on some of the hotel expenses. One of the places we want to spend less is Barcelona. We want something close to the action, safe and yet inexpensive (if this is possible). Any recommendations?
Thank you

We'd love to find something for less than $150...prefer to be around $100 and yet be downtown near the sights. This may be unrealistic but worth a shot.
This would be for 2 adults in a double room.

We have stayed at The Hotel Granvia...very well located, just a block from Placa Catalunya and the Rambla...it's on major street Gran Via...should not be more than 100E's...ain't 5-Star, but more than adequate...the atircase in the lobby is worth the price of admission...colonial Spain in every way..very caring staff and very good breakfasts..

We stayed at the Hotel Lleo in November. It was well located, clean, attractive, had large rooms, very nice bathrooms, and helpful front desk staff. It was either $100 or 100 Euros--I can't remember which.

We stayed at the Hotel Cuatro Naciones last September for $100 including tax for a double with breakfast. It's right on Las Ramblas, the room had a tiny balcony from where you could watch people walking along the boulevard at night. It's around the corner from the Barrio Gothic and the waterfront, and a few steps from the subway station and the open food market. The room was air conditioned, very clean, with a spacious bathroom, TV and telephone. There was a common area with internet access and a 24-hour lobby staffed with friendly and truly helpful staff. If we ever go back to Barcelona we would stay there again in a second.
We made our reservations via e-mail from their website http://www.h4n.com/.
Good luck!
