Looking for "Brotherleelove" to help me find my way
Hi,
I booked the flight from Rhodes /Santorini on April 17th thinking I could catch the ferry to Paros at 3:30. Wrong, seems there is no ferry at that time and the next best time is on the 18th? Not the worst thing to happen. Now that I will be in Santorini for the day can you kindly suggest a place to spend the night that keeps me somewhat near the port so I can catch the ferry out the next day? And, what would you suggest we do with our 20 odd hours we now have on the island?
We had planned on coming back to Santorini from our week on Paros to spend maybe 2 nights before heading back to Athens then home. I have started to wonder if we should move on to another island between Paros and Athens instead, now that we will be overnighting in Santorini? Any thoughts on this idea? I have been getting conflicting advice from people who say 1 night is enough on Santorini, I really don't know and am hoping you can provide some input.
Thanks very much.

I'm not Brotherleelove but, I will tell you that, to me, one night isn't enough on Santorini. Everyone has their opinion but, I love the atmosphere in Oia, enjoy wandering the island, visiting a few wineries, beaches, etc. The hike from Oia to Fira is breathtaking and just sitting on a terrace looking out over the caldera can take up many many hours of your time. Are your dates on Paros set? I'm thinking they must be with the itinerary you're talking about. It would make more sense to stay on Santorini for a few days since you're already there, then ferry to Paros and then to Athens. Much more direct and less time with travel. It cuts out one left of the traveling.

One night on ANY island isn't enough. You can wait to decide if you want to return to Athens, stay on Paros or try another island between Paros and Athens until after you've seen Santorini and have spent your time on Paros. Hotels will have lots of openings in April so last-minute booking won't be a problem.
I responded a little while ago on your other posting saying that there's still a chance that the Blue Star ferry will be operating on the 17, but in case it's not I can offer some overnight recommendations for Santorini but I need to know what your maximum room budget will be and if you want a caldera view.

I did see that post, thanks. Just as I thought one night isn't enough. Some folks like to rush around I guess, we would rather take in as much of the day to day as we can. I don't want to overplan our visit.
Our room budget is in the area of 100 euro a night. If we need to go a little higher we will.
