Looking for Agroturismo Recommendations

Hello All - My wife and I are thinking about traveling to Italy in October with our 3.5 year old and 8 month old. We were thinking about spending some time in the Emilia-Romagna region as we are familiar with this area, and spending the remaining time in an agroturismo. We aren't set on the location of the agroturismo, but we would like to be relatively close to a train station so that we can do some exploration. If they offer onsite child care, that would also be a huge plus. We are just starting the planning so we are pretty amenable to suggestions. We have never traveled with our children, so we are looking for something relatively easy, but mom and dad's likes generally surround food and wine.

Thank you in advance. This forum has helped on so many of our trips and we are very grateful for all the sage wisdom and advice offered.

Jeremy

My expertise is Como and outside of Florence but I do give input on other topics.

First of all, if looking for locations in Italy the correct word is agriturismo rather than agroturismo.

I have excellent suggestions near Florence perfect for young kids but need to know whether you will have a car or not. Early October or later? The temperatures really change in central and northern Italy around about mid-October.

The agriturismo.it website has a pretty poor map. What I would do it use google maps for the area, search on agriturismo and then look for nearby railways. My prefered one has just closed and is up for sale so no use to you.

Hey - sorry for the typo and thank you for the correction! As of now, we are not planning to have a car as neither of us drive a manual transmission and I have been told numerous times that obtaining an automatic is difficult. We would also need two car seats for our children, which I assume would be difficult as well. We will be there the second and third weeks of October.

Jeremy - automatic rentals cars and kid seats should not be a problem in October - perhaps in July and August as there is much greater demand.

Again, I can give you suggestions for Tuscany rather than ER.

Ahh, that is wonderful to hear. Could you give some Tuscany suggestions that require a car and those that would not require a car?
