Looking for Advice in Planning Itinerary

I'm trying to plan an itinerary for a 9 Day vacation. I am flying into Milan, so I was thinking that I could have 3 days in Milan, 3 days in Florence, and 3 Days in Venice. If any one has other recommendations for cities not to miss, I would appreciate it. I'm also open to Hotel Recommendations, I'm willing to spend $200 - $300 a night. thanks!!

I think you can do Milan in two days, easily. (Some here will say you can spend even less time there. The shopping, of course, is good.) I would spend my first night in Milan, take a train to Venice and spend two nights/three days and then spend spend two nights/three days in Florence. I'd hit Siena for an overnight and then return to Milan. You can also stop in Pisa for a couple of hours if the Leaning Tower and some other sites interest you.

Unless you want to do a lot of shopping, one day in Milan should suffice. Your time can be much better spent in Venice and Florence (at least 3 days/2 nights in each).

Here's one more vote for cutting down the time in Milan and adding it to Venice and Florence. I'd go for just one day in Milan, and add one more day each to Venice and Florence.

Mary..

I'd go one step further than the previous posters and take the first train out of Milan after transferring from Malpensa, even if it's only as far as Lake Como or Lugano, or Stresa for a day or two to adjust.
