Looking for accomodations in Galway

We're coming from the Roundwood House in Laois and I wanted to stay somewhere between Laois and Clare or Galway. After that we're staying at the Delphi Lodge which is on the coast. Any suggestions?

tlucey: I've stayed at Delphi, and it's wonderful. I have relatives that own the Ardilaun in Galway...it's very nice, and it's close to good pubs/shopping, etc. We went the last time to the Galway Oyster Festival in September, and had a blast...$5 cab ride so you don't have to navigate the streets...you can just park at the Ardilaun and not have the hassle. Have fun!

We stayed at the Westwood House Hotel in Galway last year and the service and room were very good.

After reading the first posting twice I believe that tlucey asked for a recommendation "between" Laois, Clare and Galway. With that in mind, I would recommend Glasson Stone Lodge just north of Athlone. On the way you could stop off to see either Belvedere House & Gardens (south of Mullingar) or Clonmacnoise Monastic Site (south of Athlone). If time permits you might be able to fit in the Clonmacnoise and West Offaly Railway through the bogs. When in Athlone a visit to one of Ireland's oldest pubs, Sean's Bar, is fun.

We recently stayed at Killeen House 1 mile from the center of town. It was the best stay of ours in Ireland. Read the reviews on TripAdvisor.com
