Looking for a stop on the way to Tuscany from Amalfi Coast - Tivoli?

We will be picking up our rental in Sorrento and driving to San Quirico d'Orcia. I would love to stop along the way for about 2-3 hrs, possibly longer depending on how early we pick up the car. Would it be worth it to stop and visit the gardens at Villa d'Este given that amount of time?

Other suggestions welcome. And not Orvieto - it's already on the itinerary.

A trip to Tivoli is always worth it, and 2 or 3 hours is sufficient time to enjoy Villa d'Este....although I'm sure once you're there it may be hard not to stay a 4th

While in Tivoli, I'd also take a look at Hadrian's Villa.

That is really the only viable option, but I would get to Tuscany ASAP and stop in Montepulciano as you go to SQ on S-146. Have lunch at the Autogrill on A-1.
