Looking for a pub or mod. priced restaurant near Tower of London with 14 yr old

We will be visiting the Tower of London then walk to Tower Bridge in the late afternoon then going for dinner and then back to the Tower for the Ceremony of the Keys (we have tickets/pass of course). Does anyone know of a pub or moderately priced restaurant in the area that is within fairly close walking distance to the Tower. We will be with our 14 yr old grandson so kids must be welcome.

Thanks

We went to the Liberty Bounds pub, which is part of the JD Weatherspoons chain, when we had to kill time before the Ceremony of the Keys. I belive it is on Trinity Square(?) and is on the same street or within view from where you come out of the Tower tube station. There were a number of families upstairs with their children. The food prices seemed very reasonable, however I can't vouch for the quality because we did not eat.

You may be able to search the Weatherspoons website to find the exact address.

Enjoy the Ceremony of the Keys. It was one of the highlights of our trip in February.

Wagamama is a very moderately-priced restaurant right opposite the Tower.

See their website: www.wagamama.com

The location you need on their website is called Tower Hill. They close at 9pm but that shouldn't be a problem if you are going to the Ceremony of the Keys.

They do a good selection of reasonably-priced noodle/rice dishes and children would be welcome from what I have seen of their other restaurants.

On the south Bank of the river are a couple of decent pubs where you can get pub food (day time only)at reasonable prices:

The Hornimans at Hays is on the bank by the HMS Belfast and has outdoor tables and chairs.

The Shipwrights is a proper pub on Tooley Street just along from the London Dungeons, and also serves very good food.

Both of these pubs welcome children as long as you are having food.

Regards

Andy.

With a little time to kill a wander around St Katherine's Dock is fun.

It is situated behind the ugliness that is The Tower Thistle Hotel and is a marina with boats, shops and an old looking pub (which isn't) called The Dickens Inn. Three floors with three different types of food. On a summers evening it's a very pleasant place to while away an hour.

Just across Tower Bridge is Butler's Wharf Chop House right on the river. If you're there on a Saturday or Sunday they have a reasonably priced brunch served in the bar area from noon to 4 pm. The website (http://www.conran-restaurants.co.uk/...house/bar.html) has the menu and prices.
