Looking for a Place to Stay in Sevilla
I need some help with accomodations in Sevilla. I have checkrd a number of places that are the smaller more quaint places with good locations. Unfortunately most of those are booked (ie. Hotel Simon, Las Casas de la Juderia, etc). There are other places posted on Fodors like Colon, Los Seises, La Rabida, and Becquer. Any feedback on these places? I also welcome any other suggestions.
Thanks for the help!!
Regards,
Jackie

We've stayed at the Patio de la Cartuja and Patio de la Alameda, sister hotels across the street from each other in the Macarena district. Very nice, affordable, about a 20 min. walk from the center. (We preferred the Cartuja for the openness of the internal patio.)Check them out at http://www.estancias.com/

We stayed at the La Hosteria del Laurel in the Jewish Quarter last summer. Very nice, very affordable and historic (Don Juan is said to have been written there). Clean, modern and a good restaurant. It is only a few blocks from the Cathedral, La Gilrada and Royal Palace.

we stayed at the hotel becquer, which is a best western. the rooms were very nice, breakfast very good, centrally located to the cathedral and triana area. would definitely stay there again if i went back to seville. can't go wrong. when we checked in we had a nice fruit basket. the 2nd nite we had a nice bottle of champagne. we were impressed. it had everything we needed including location.

we also stayed in a paradore at carmona which was one of the highlights of our trip. it is 13 miles outside of seville. very easy to drive to. located in the plains of spain. beautiful location. we also stayed at arcos de la frontera at the paradore. this was our most favorite of all spain. this is where you really get the true spanish flavor in our opinion. rick steves claims, and i agree, that this is one of the best kept secrets of spain. i cannot emphasize how much i agree with rick steves on this. when driving in arcos, we had to turn our side mirrors in so that we could maneuver through the narrow streets. another place in arcos is el convento which i understand is about half the price of the paradore. we went in and it was absolutely gorgeous.

We stayed at the Tyrp Colon last month and thought it was great! Great location, great room and the breakfast buffet that was included with our price was great. Have fun. My only wish is that it has a pool. But its too cold to swim right now anyway.

I just booked a reservation at "Taberna del Alabardero", which sounded great according to the description in the Karen Brown book. "5 min walk to the cathedral,... charming, beautiful ambience,... almost too good to share" Their phone is 34-95-456-0637; fax 34-95-456-3666. (I'dd be curious to hear comments from anyone who's stayed there

The San Gil has duplex type rooms, very clean. You can order parking for a small extra charge but you must order in advance. Breakfast was included in the rate. A beautiful foyer. It it tucked away behind the Basilica de la Macarena. They have a roof top pool.. It is near a bus route and also a short walk to the Guadalquivir. Tel no is (95) 490 6811 or fax 490 6939.
Downstairs there are two sofas which can be used as beds, a small fridge and hotplate but they do not provide any silverware or plates etc. Upstairs is the main bedroom and bathroom. Do a web search hotel san gil and there is a site in spanish
