Looking for a hotel with air-conditioning

Hello Everybody,

As my family will visit Luzern in the coming August and we are looking for a hotel.

Now my family has some questions and hope you can help us.

1. Will it be very hot in the night-time?

2. Does an air-conditoning room is a must when stay in Luzern in summer time?

Thank for your reply in advance.

1. Maybe. Maybe not. I'd be willing to bet it's going to cool off after the first week of August but can't guarantee that.

2. It's been a hot summer so air-conditioning is a must for those who are used to it. Northern Europeans usually don't bother with it but tourists from other places do.

Have been to Lucern several times in late spring/summer and usually needed a sweater more than AC. but it is possible for it to get hot for short periods. Don;t recall that any of our hotels had AC.

hkchemsir: We visited gorgeous Switzerland in late June/early July. We spent 3 nights in Luzern and 11 nights in the Berner Oberland.

In my opinion, it isn't possible to sleep in Luzern on noisy summer nights without air conditioning. Its a lovely city, but it can be noisy at night. If you don't have air conditioning, you will have to open your windows at night to get some air. But if you open your windows you also let in the city noise.

We slept well in a room with air conditioning. We had a junior suite with air conditioning at the Romantik Hotel Wilden-Mann. Only their junior suites have air conditioning. This is expensive. Luzern is expensive.

I highly recommend you also spend some nights in the Berner Oberland, where there are the stunning peaks of the Alps, trains and cable cars to ride, waterfalls to see...and maybe there will still be some wildflowers up higher in the Alps in August... I recommend you spend some nights in the car-free villages of either Murren or Wengen in the Berner Oberland. It was beautiful weather up in the Alps, and we didn't need any air conditioning up in Murren or Wengen. We slept well with the windows open at night, and it was quiet.

Enjoy your trip.
