Looking for a hotel in St Germain des Pres
 

Hi
Trying to pick a hotel in St Germain des Pres area. I narrowed down my search to 3 hotels:
Hotel Lenox (I'm not sure how far this is from 6th)
Hotel des Saints Peres
Hotel du Danube
Has anyone stayed in any of these hotels??

Both the Danube and the St-Pere have gotten good comments here. What time of the year will you be going? The otherwise good Danube does not have a/c.

go to www.tripadvisor.com and type ing the name of each hotel to get up to date reviews. You can do the same on this forum by typing in the hotel names in the search field.

We stayed at Hotel St. Germain in the 6th, 88 Rue de Bac and really enjoyed it.

Personally I did not care for the Danube (cold staff during my stay at least and didn't like the room & bathroom). I'd go for either of the other two hotels on your list instead.

Just returned from an eight night stay at Hotel du Danube. It was essentially our first Paris visit, so we have no basis for comparison, but, aside from a few days when it would have been nice to have A/C, and a little noise from the street, we liked everything about the place. The location especially, is hard to beat.

We were in a superior outside room, which had plenty of space for a writing/dining table with two comfy chairs, a decent sized bathroom, and lots of closet space. Furnishings were all period appropriate, well maintained, and comfortable (bed).

I'd read francophile's reports on hotel staff, so was somewhat concerned until we got there. Nicolas is a little cool (but he did give us some excellent restaurant recommendations); everyone else was welcoming and friendly, especially Francois.

Let me know if you've got specific questions.

I haven't stayed at them, but can tell you the Lenox is only one short block from the border of the 6th at rue des Saints Peres (which is where the Danube is, so there is little difference in those two locations).

I've looked into the Lenox..Christina is correct..it is right at the very border of the 6th and a few blocks from StG metro. We have been staying at the du Danube on our last few trips, in a superior streetside room. They have always been large and comfortably furnished. The baths are smallish but with nice features.

The staff has always been most pleasant to me, especially that sweety, Francois!!

There is free internet access in the lobby in the evenings.

We always travel in fall or winter so A/C is not one of our considerations.

We also have stayed at the du Danube and enjoyed it. I'm not sure which staff member it was, but she was very helpful in that she tried faxing some documents that my husband needed while he was trying to rent a car. We really liked having a cafe right next door named I think the Cafe Saint Peres. My daughters still call it "Pierre's". We regularly took our breakfast there. The next time I want to try the restaurant diagonally accross the street on the corner of St. Beauve (I think.)And Lauderee - how could I have been so close and completely miss it! One of my great regrets.

We also stayed at the Danube and enjoyed our stay there. We always ask for a room on the courtyard, for the quiet.
rue Jacob is a great street , you will be happy to be in that area.
