Looking for a Hotel in Lisbon
 

Will need a Hotel in Lisbon for March. We would like to stay in the City Centre within walking distance of good restaurants and shopping. We'll disembark our ship on a Sat. and will fly back to the States on Sun. a.m.
We'd like a nice Hotel, not a $400 a night,
somewhere between $100 to $150.

The Lisboa Regency Chiado is newer, it's a design hotel, and located in Chiado, lately a very fashionable, and bohemian location as well, where you'll find bars, restaurants, and some shops:

Thank you soooo much! I love Portugal...my favorite place in the world is Funchal! What a garden of Eden!
This will be my 4th time in 4 years to disembark a ship in Lisbon, but I've never had the time to "linger" overnight. We want to walk around a bit, maybe catch a Taxi to tour for a couple of hours, then have a nice, relaxing dinner. I just didn't think we needed to pay over $175, at the most, for a comfortable, good located Hotel. As a smaller Hotel, is really what we'd like, with an English speaking desk clerk, what would your 1st choice be?

The Regency Chiado would be my first choice, followed by the Britania. I also like smaller hotels, with a local character.

The Britania is not at Av. da Liberdade, but it's a block behind it. The Chiado is a very interesting district, that has been revitalized over the past 3 or 4 years.

Sorry, I cannot guarantee an English speaking desk clerk. My native language is Portuguese ( I am Brazilian). ;-).

We were quite pleased with the Britannia. Nice old world atmosphere - relaxed - very large rooms - fine breakfast.

Both my daughter and I have stayed at the Metropole on Rossio Square right in the heart of Lisbon. Rooms run about $100 and are large. Ours had a balcony overlooking the square (I don't recall any problems with noise, must be pretty well sound-proofed) and with a view on up to the lighted St. Georges castle. Nice public rooms for a drink and for breakfast. Pleasant service. Location can't be beat.
