Looking for a good tour
 

Hello, me and my husband are looking for a good 2 week tour of Europe. We would like a tour that offers lots of flexibility so we can wander off on our own and does not cost a fortune. We don't want to be a bus with 50 other tourist - just something a little more personal. Any ideas? Thanks so much for your help in this matter.

Sue, <BR>If you and your husband want flexibility and to avoid a busload of fellow tourists, design your own independent tour. There are any number of queries and responses in this forum that deal with planning a European trip based upon your personal interests, budget and time frame. Do a topic search here in Fodor under "General Interest" or Email me directly for some advice and counsel. In many ways there is as much pleasure in the personal planning of a trip as there is in its realization.

I have run into two interesting tours online. Rick Steves - www.ricksteves.com offers lots of tours. However, most are 3 weeks long and frankly seem rather expensive. Footloose travel - www.footloosetravel.com has interesting an tour. Real small groups use the train. Lots of flexibility and not very expensive. I guess if you don't like buses, this might work. Planning your own trip is an option. You may just want to visit these sites and see if the itinerary presented works for you. Both sites offer some reasonable options for places to go. Both might give you some ideas. Good luck

Hello Sue - Try Untours. I have not travelled with them, but I like their philosophy. A friend of mine is going to Spain with them. They provide the basics and leave you to spend your days as you wish, with as much or as little help as you need. Enjoy your trip!

I agree with the above postings. A 2 week tour with flexibility will be like looking for a needle in a haystack. 2 weeks is such little time to see much of Europe as well as having time on your own. Better to decide what you really want to see and concentrate on no more than 2-3 countries in that short a time.
