Looking for a good "castle hotel" in Edinburgh

We are going to Scotland in September. Would like the "experience" of staying in a real castle. Are there good ones in Edinburgh? Or perhaps elsewhere. Planning on doing 2 days in Edinburgh then going up north to the highlands. No definate plans on that yet. And could possibly stay 5 days. There will be 3 adults. So price about 100 each is fine.

The Dalhousie Castle Hotel in Bonnyrigg is just outside Edinburgh. You can also rent an apartment in a ruined castle in Rosslyn, also just outside Edinburgh, from the Landmark Trust (not the National Trust). I have had friends who have had excellent experiences doing both.

We rented an apartment in Ramsay Gardens, at the top of the Royal Mile next to Edinburgh Castle, as close as you can get in the city itself.

as well; but I think you'll struggle in that price range.

Sheila, that is a wonderful list!

Is Liberton Tower the one you see from Braid Hills Road near the golf?

100 each of what? Dollars, pounds?

100 each of what? Per person, per room, per stay, per night?

There's a great castle in Edinburgh but it's not a hotel . . .
