Have a look at www.coquelicot.com We rented from them in fall of 2000 and were pleased. Houses are not generally luxurious but are good value for money.
Click on "Sleeps?" to see a listing of houses by capacity, on "Agency" to see their policies, their Vacancy list and a map of the Luberon. They were very good about responding to questions quickly by e-mail.

well, the obvious, I guess -- have you looked at the official French gites web site?

Hello, again, Babette. In case you don't find something you like on Coquelicot, here are some other websites I had bookmarked while looking for a gite in this area:
http://www.luberon-news.com/lbba.donut

http://www.guideweb.com/hebergement/rech-cat-pays.php3?region=provence&pays=Luberon&type=gite&l angue=us

http://www.provence-luberon.net/

http://www.provenceweb.fr/e/vaucluse/location.htm

And, as Christina suggests, you might want to take a look at http://www.gites-de-france.fr/eng/index.htm but it is a little harder to navigate and not all the pages are available in English. There is also http://www.flv.fr/flv/uk/rechgeo.htm which has a few houses in the area you are interested in of the size you want. If you need any help with translation or whatever, let me know. I'll be glad to help further if I can. Good luck!

Many thanks for all of your suggestions. I am still trying to find the right combination: price, dates and location so you info will help I hope. Do not know much French so the gites-de-france is a bit frustrating. Will let you know what evolves. Thanks, Merci, Babette

www.panacherental.com
La Garde Freinet 2 bedroom house (have stayed here - great little village) in the Var region - 20 minutes to St. Tropex or can go north to the Luberon or Provence. The house in Gassin is nice too but does'nt have dishwasher or washer/dryer and private garden like La Garde - loved it.

Look also at www.holiday-rentals.com and holiday-net.com

Big lists of places--haven't rented from either of them, though.

The official French gites site doesn't list many places online; you have to order the catalog--unless I've missed something
