Looking for a company that offers a day trip to the Cotswolds.

We will be in London in mid October and would like to take a day trip to see a bit of the Cotswolds. Since we will not have a car, I thought perhaps a day tour would let us do this. Using a tour company off the internet with no personal knowledge of them is a guessing game at best. I hope someone here may have some knowledge or personal experience with a company. Does anyone have any thoughts, experience or ideas?

Two years' ago we took a wonderful day trip to the Cotswold with a company named Evan Evans Tours, recommended to us on this site - evanevanstours.co.uk

We will be in London in early August and plan to take their tour to Leeds Castle.

There are 3 or 4 major tour companies in London. All do this trip and the basic ones are all very similar. You just need to pick an itinerary that doesn't try to stuff in a lot of other things.

The one mentioned above is reputable but your hotel can give you info on that and other choices.

Expect to spend a lot of time on the bus.

Or - rent a car and just go see what YOU really want. (Or hire a private car driver - but very big $)

London Walks do a day trip to Oxford and the Cotswolds. I took it in 2009 and really enjoyed it. Easy, reasonably priced and a great way to see Oxford and a tiny bit of the Cotswolds without a car.

At the time (not sure if they've changed it), we took the train to Oxford, where a bus met us and drove us to a couple of different villages in the Cotswolds. We had a walking tour of Minster Lovell, I believe, and stopped for lunch in another town. Then we went to Oxford and did another walking tour there, with some free time to walk around before the bus took us back to the train station.

Cotswold-Roaming seems to be very popular. It is a small group tour compared to the others.

Try International Friends-I went on an overnight trip with the last year that included the Cotswolds and it was great. I believe they also have day trips. Small busses, very friendly guides, pick up place right near the tube stop.
