I used Priceline and got the Sheraton Park Lane for $125 + Tax. It's in the Mayfair area near Piccadilly.

Mr. Haines...would you email me your hotel info? I think I have decided on the Vicarage. It is $144 with breakfast and everyone says it is lovely. We are on such a budget that if I could get something cheaper...well, it would be more money to go see plays, ect. However, realizing that this may be our only trip to London (there is lots to see in the world afterall!) I don;t want to stay in someplace "dreary". Thanks for the info!!!!

I realize these posts are over a year old, but wondering it there is any new feeback people can provide on a few of these hotels mentioned... like the Vicarage and the Holiday Inn Victoria.

My mom and I are going to London for a week, and while we don't need anything fancy, we do not want anything dumpy or dreary, either.

Thanks for any help you might be able to offer us.

Chris, I have posted this information about 3-4 times already, but I post again in case the search function is not working:

I stayed at the Victoria Inn off Belgrave Road and liked it very much. It was about 65 pounds for a double, continental breakfast included. It is located within a safe, residential neighborhood and the specific street section does have many other B&B's and small hotels. About 10 minute walk to Victoria Station, about 3 minutes walk to Pimlico station, a little less than a mile from Buckingham Palace. Clean, courteous staff, we had a cute balcony and the street was quiet, a welcome relief after a day of sightseeing. There were tons of neighbrhood restaurants in the area. My sister and I favored the Italian place in the corner, but walking every day to Victoria there was more Italian restaurants, Indian, Greek, pubs, etc...

Our first day in from the Airport (Gatwick Express on to Victoria Station; about $12/pp) we took a taxi (suitcases). After that we walked to/from Victoria every day.

Here is the website http://www.victoriainn.co.uk/

For Mr Miles: I should still value the name of the dud hotel.

For gogoellen and littletraveller: Certainly. Please e-mail me: I do not know your address
