Zfun, just saw your post--yes, that is where we stayed 4/21-2/28.
Hate to hijack this thread; I'll start a new post with vrbo 58971 in the title. g-mere |
whoops, I see that it is 2fun!

well, the Longchamp bag looks like it would make a great carry-on! But no one has mentioned the handles- some are short, just to hold, and some have the long straps to go over the shoulder- which type do you all think is most useful/easiest to carry? And for more of a carry-on vs an everyday handbag- which size?
|
also, which colors are not available in the US? in other words, unique and bought-in-europe-only?
|
definitely get the long handles so you have the option of holding it on your shoulder!
i like that is about 18" wide and maybe 14" in tall. i have had one that i've used for years, and i'm dying for a new one, but they are so expensive... |
I find that, currently, the UK has the lowest prices in Europe for luxury (and near-luxury) brands. Can't comment on Longchamps, specifically, but this was the case for some Prada and Dior bags I was pricing out for the wife. I've looked in Paris, London, Zurich, Copenhagen, and (for good measure) Hong Kong and Singapore. Switzerland has been (by far) the most expensive of those cities.
I suspect, though, that the prices in the US are competitive. Remember that "favorable exchange rate" is relative. That you get fewer pounds per dollar than Swiss Francs means very little. |
@KARIME2 if you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for your longchamps in Antigua? im always go on vacation there and this time when i go i plan on buying one so i would just like to know how much they cost ahead of time please.

This is an older thread but does anyone know if the 10% tourist discount offered at Galeries Lafayette and Printemps apply to brands like Longchamp and Furla? Because if not, then it would probably be better to shop at those brands' individual retail boutiques since the selection would be bigger.
|
When we were in Paris several years ago, the hotel where we stayed offered discount coupons to Galeries Lafayette and Printemps. Between this coupon, which was accepted, and the VAT refund, I did save quite a bit of money on a nice Longchamps purse. As always, know what the item you desire costs in the US and make an informed purchase.
|
Yes I think you can get the 10% tourist discount coupon online (Printemps) or at the customer service counter (Galeries Lafayette). I just wasn't sure if that coupon is allowed for Furla or Longchamp since I heard that it can't be used for "red point" brands like LV or Gucci.

Google Longchamps and you will find an outlet store here in the US that has real Longchamps in US dollars and the prices are very very good. The medium size (Pliage) that I always buy for around 72 euros in Paris is alot cheaper on this site. Two of my airline friends just sent for some purses from this site.

Because I am interested in this bag for travel, I just looked at this outlet referenced above. They have gotten terrible reviews and people say this outlet is selling fakes. Spend at your own risk!
