London2for1 is now daysoutguide
I have been checking London2for1 to see if they would extend their discounts past 5-31-05. I was pleased to find that they have changed the site to www.daysoutguide.co.uk and do have some discounts available through 8-31-05. They are not as great as before but for example you buy one adult ticket to the Tower of London and the second adult ticket is half-price. Gosh, I'll take the difference and buy a little souvenir! Check it out.
|
Thanks so much for the info. I too have been watching the 2for1 hoping it would be extended. Really appreciate the tip!
|
Nancy45, you are welcome.

Babs,
We are leaving for London in a few days. I went to this website but I cannot find the special that you are referring to. Please help me find it! Laurie |
From the home page click on "offers". There is a long list of specials. Most are pretty minor - like 20% off admission. But some are quite good, like 2 for 1.
|
Laurie, Janis is correct, click on offers and scroll down to the bottom where you can click to go to page two. The Tower of London discount is the last one listed. Have fun in London!
|
I found it!
Thank you! |
I am reserrecting this thread because the offer(s) is now valid until January 7, 2007.
Terms & Conditions: "The 2-for-1 vouchers are only valid when presented with your train tickets." The site does not indicate which train. My question to this board is: Would my Gatwick Express or Northern Train ticket suffice? |
i am kane-
Thanks for topping this thread! Just in time for my trip later this month. The Tate Britain Voucher for the Holbein exhibit comes in handy. AFAIK, previous posters have reported Gatwick Express ticket is valid. Some had even used a regular Travelcard as the "train ticket". |
Yes, your Gatwick Express tickets are valid with this offer. We have even used an off-peak one day travel card.
We used our 2 for 1 voucher last Saturday at the Courtauld Institute and were not asked for our train tickets. |
Great news! In a city as expensive as London, every discount helps.
Two weeks and counting until we leave for London! |
Well if a TravelCard worked i guess a BritRail Pass or LondonPlus Pass could work as well - i wonder.
|
Here's link to the FAQ regarding which type of train tickets are valid with the promotion:

topping this again.
I used the voucher last week in London for the Holbein in Britain exhibit at the Tate Britain. We were asked to see our train ticket, and we showed them our 1-day Travelcard. Great way to save a few £ here and there, esp with £ hitting all-time high! |
I was able to use the 2 for 1 coupons 10 days ago (middle of Nov.). The Tower of London just took the voucher and gave us the entrance tickets.
Madame Tussaud's did ask to see our 3-day Travel card, and accepted the 2 for 1 coupon. |
Topping.
The new offer is out, valid until June 3, 2007. New website address: http://www.2for1entry.co.uk/ |
How does this work? I am taking train in from Bridgend to Paddington Station and will remain in London for 4 days. There are several attractions listed with the 2 for 1 which I am interested in seeing. Do I show the train ticket and give a coupon for each attraction? Meaning, I can keep the ticket to use over and over again with different coupons?
|
JamilaZ,
Yes, keep your original train ticket and present it with every 2 for 1 coupon offer to the cashier. Make sure they give it back to you, though. |
I thought you had to show them a ticket (i.e. train with the symbol on it) that was valid for the DAY you're using the 2 for 1 entry.
You can't really reuse the same train ticket for the next day, the day after that, etc.... or can you? |
I would have thought you could use the same ticket over several days if it was a return ( round trip) ticket
|
I just kept my train ticket handy and showed it each time for the whole week I was there.
I had a Gatwick Express ticket. It did not have to be a train ticket for same day. |
I am afraid I am just being dense, but how does this work? I have tickets on the Gatwick Express, so the train ticket part is covered. Do I have to purchase the coupons in advance? Do I have to select the 2 for 1 events in advance? Sorry to be so slow getting this, but I would appreciate "2 for 1 for Dummies" please.
|
CMCFONG, I must be another dummy! I couldn't figure that out either so I just went ahead and printed out the coupons I wanted. I remember awhile ago getting 2for1 at the London Eye just by showing my 7 day Oyster, but I'm pretty sure that was for the 2for 1 deals offered by London Transport, not the train lines.
|
I didn't know you could use a train ticket that wasn't for travel on the day you were planning to use the 2 for 1 voucher.....
Are you positive an one-way Gatwick Express ticket (let's say... Purchased on May 29 for travel) and I can use it on a 2 for 1 place (i.e. Tower of London) on June 2? I'm taking the GEX on May 29 and making my way to Bath for the night. First Great Western has a 2 for 1 offer for the Roman Baths if anyone's interested... This whole thing is confusing me. I was planning on getting a 7 day travelcard because I'm spending 6 nights in London so I'll just purchase that. |
<<< Do I have to purchase the coupons in advance? >>>
You don't purchase them, you just print them off and follow the instructions (which generally are "hand to guy at ticket office with your money & valid rail ticket"). |
Basically, you print the 2 for 1 coupon from the website for the attractions you're going to see.
When you arrive at the attraction site, give them the coupon and show them your train ticket. Gatwick Express ticket will work, and so will Day travelcards. Technically speaking, the train ticket has to be the same day as the day you visit the attraction, but they may not check the train ticket that closely. |
Thank you Alan and yk. I appreciate the explanation.
|
So I went to the website and printed out 6 attractions, and they don't even looked "authentic". The coupon just states my name/date/emailaddress/attraction name 2for1. I hope that is enough. I printed out 6 because I'm not sure which one I want to see. I'll have to decide when I get there, but I was wondering if I could use all 6, as I could only print out 3 at a time. Is there a way for them to check how many coupons I have used? Please help. Thanks.
|
alliecat,
I did exactly what you did. Printed the 2 for 1 coupons, cut them out so they were manageable and clipped them together with a binder clip. Not one ticket cashier ever asked me a question, or refused to accept the coupons. I had my Gatwick Express ticket and our 3-Day Travel Card for validation. We were in London for a full five days. |
Can you use 2for1 promotions w/ one-day travelcard, since 3 day is valid. I didn't see anywhere on the website that you must use certain travelcard -- it just says valid w/ travelcard.
|
Any TFL travelcard or train ticket as long as it's valid on the day you use the 2-4-1 offer.
|
I still need "London2for1 for Dummies". I cannot seem to download any coupons. Is there a trick I am overlooking? I know I can get the coupons at the rail station, but would prefer to have them in advance. Thank you for any help.
|
You need to create an account and then when you do so, log in and go back to the coupon page and download it from there. There'll be 3 drop down boxes where you can download 3 different coupons at once.
|
Thank you. I have done as you suggested. I must just be missing something in the process. Thanks for taking the time to help me.
|
Bump for a question: we will buy our travelcard when we get there, family of four. Instead of printing out coupons at home, then kick myself for missing things when I'm in London without a printer - can we pick up all the coupons at a rail station, in two booklets?
Also, one friend bought two kid travel cards and two adult oysters, family of four - probably because of the photo ID requirement. I haven't figured out the numbers yet (I bet yk can't resist) but its just a thought I wanted to share. |
Also, does Daysoutguide allow you to jump the queue like the Great British Heritage Pass. Somehow I don't think so, since you have to get 'tickets'.
|
Hi Feldie, thanks for your input.
I don't recall seeing these 2-for-1 voucher booklets in London, except perhaps once at Liverpool Street station. I would not wager on getting a booklet there... just print a bunch out and if you forget some, you can always go to an internet cafe and print it out for a small fee. |
Back in 2007, I responded to this post and made mention of the Terms and Conditions of the 2/1 offer. The link is at the bottom of the web site.
Following is part of the Terms and Condition: "The offer is obtained upon presentation of a valid voucher downloaded at 2for1entry.co.uk/daysoutguide.co.uk, and valid train tickets. " In 2007 I was asked, when purchasing entrance tickets at Madame Toussad's, to show my train (tube) tickets along with the 2/1 coupon. |
I'm frozen at my computer, again.
I'll be buying four paper travel cards for the four of us - so two vouchers per attraction. I'm going to start merrily printing out every possbile voucher I could possibly use. They would all have my name and email on them. Would I just copy the whole packet after it prints out and hand the ticket agent two identical vouchers for the four of us? They would reflect the same name....please don't tell me I have to create another account (DH?) and print them under his name. |
