London-Wilbraham hotel?
HI
I'm investigating budget and moderately-proced hotels in London. I've read a few good reviews of the Wilbraham at tripsdvisor.com There's nothing here at fodors. I also can't find a website for it (I think perhaps there isn't one) nor even a working fax number. If anyone has info, I'd appreciate it thanks |
Hi Elaine - it's so great to hear someone ask about the Wilbraham. We stayed there a number of years ago and loved it. Very quiet, not to far from the tube. I don't believe they have a website but I did find this fax number in my notes. I hope it still works.
PHONE: 02077308296 FAX: +44 171 7306815 When we were there they didn't take credit cards. When I did a search on Google I came across this: http://www.mjgleeson.com/hotels/case...wilbrahams.php Don't know how current it is. |
thaks so much for trying, but that fax number appears to be obsolete, and the link is to a construction company that once worked on the hotel.
You and I both need a current fax number! cheers |
Hi Elaine, if you happen to get a fax number could you post it. We'd like to visit again.
I realized the one site was a hotel site, but I thought it might indicate that the hotel was under construction and therefore not available to book. |
Regrettably the Wilbraham is no more.
I stayed at this hotel at least 10 times in the mid to late 1990's, and always enjoyed the fantastic location, nice staff and very reasonable rates. In December 2000, I faxed the hotel to reserve for March 2001. I received a very nice personal letter from the owner stating that the hotel was soon to be closed for "renovations". It appears that the hotel was razed (I viewed the site in March 2001) to make room for upscale condos or something similar. Since the hotel was in such a desirable area of London, "gentrification" was unavoidable, it appears. I, for one, will sorely miss the hotel. There is nothing similar (for the same fair rates) in the immediate "upscale" neighborhood off Sloane Street. There are a few other "boutique" hotels in the area, but the rates are definitely higher. |
