London - where to stay

What part of london is the area that we want to stay in?
We are going to do the usual touristy things, such as Big ben , changing of the gusrd ,albert and victoria museum.

Thanks
Melissa

Kensington, Bloomsbury, Piccadilly, Victoria - there are so many areas - have a look at www.visitbritain.com

We have stayed at the Reubens before. It is easy to find and close to Victoria. It is across the street from Buckingham Palace.

You might want to shop for proximity to transport rather than sights, because unless you want to spend hours walking from the West End to the Tower to the British Museum, you're going to take the Tube or bus (we prefer the latter) no matter what. As you can see from this map

</b>

things are pretty spread out. So just choose an area where you can find good value, and getting to sights will take care of itself.

No single location is close to more than a few major sites. But that isn't a problem because the tube/buses are so good you can get anywhere in a short time.

There are many neighborhoods that would be good - but if you tell us what your budget is we can give you better advice.

Check out betterbidding.com for tips on different neighborhoods and how to get a 4 star hotel for 80 bucks/night. At that price, I'm happy to walk to the nearest tube or bus station using Robespierre's maps. :)
