We're based in Paris so transport is not at problem ;)
I will try the shops you suggested and if I don't find Montgomery's there I know I can go back to Harrods. I'll check Waitrose to see their selection. Thanks again for the specific shop references! |
About forgetting the corkscrew. We once bought cheeses at Paxton and Whitfield to take to Green Park for a picnic. We already had the wine. One of our little group said, "Oh, we forgot to bring the corkscrew." The man behind the counter heard that and said to wait a minute, then brought us one out from behind the counter to take with us. We returned it later. That's the kind of shop P&W is -- and I don't even think they sell wine!

"If you are buying cheese to bring to the US, don't bother. You cannot bring it into the country. Enjoy eating it in London!"
This statement is not entirely true... From the US Customs website. Food Products (Prepared) You may bring bakery items and certain cheeses into the United States. The APHIS web site features a Travelers Tips section and Game and Hunting Trophies section that offers extensive information about bringing food and other products into the country. Many prepared foods are admissible. Generally Cheddar is allowed. Raw milk cheeses would not be. |
