London walks

Being pretty new to London (previous 2 trips were just 1.5-day stopovers), I'd like to join one of the London Walks:

Which are the best 2-3 walks people here would recommend?

Has anyone been to these ones?:

- THE OLD PALACE QUARTER (Monday am)
- SECRET LONDON (Tuesday am)
- "SOMEWHERE ELSE" LONDON (Tuesday pm)

Thanks in advance for any advice!

London Walks are the best! I have not taken any of the walks u name. We went on a couple ghost walks (Ghosts of the Old City with Shaughan, really fun!)& took a Dickens walk at Xmas time, also enjoyable with costumed guide. The Ripper walk is fascinating, but has become the too popular! We were in the company of at least 50 other walkers. It is worth the price for the slice of London history.

The best walks are those you think will be most appealing to you.

We've been on many of the walks and found all the guides knowledgeable and very amusing.

We especially enjoyed the Oscar Wilde walk.

I've done numberous London Walks and have enjoyed all of them. Of those mentioned, I've only done Secret London. I really don't think you can go wrong whichever one you choose.

We've done Haunted London, Thames Pub Walk, Medievel London, Jane Austin (special Chrismas walk), Ghosts of the Old City and JTR. We've done JTR about 4 or 5 times and each time we learn something a little bit more. We've never had the same guide and they've all been interesting. We've even done a couple of "Explorer Days" -- Cotswalds and Oxford/Cambridge. Both were fun, but all day.

We've tried others, but IMO I think that London Walks is the best for walking tours.

I did several of the London walks and they were all good. Did an all day one to Cambridge - that was very good too.

Pick what interests you and you can't go wrong here - they are cheap, entertaining and they get you around quickly. You will also get a good lay of the land with them.

Thanks for all your helpful advice. I'll go for one of the London walks and will also try 1-2 self-guided walks below:

I agree--do what appeals to you, and you will not be disappointed. I did the Pub Walk (it was a GTG with Mischka!) and it was very enjoyable. I also did the one that goes to Greenwich, which was also very good.
