hi everyone....can anyone suggest an excellent walking tour of london? i only have time to do one so i want one that will afford me the best stories, sites and experiences. thnks much for all your help?

Depends on your interests. I tend to like the literary tours -- Dikens London, etc. <BR><BR>When I lived in London I recommended all my American guests do the London Walks Pub Walk. I think it's a good introduction to the pub culture of London -- something that many Americans aren't really familiar with. I remember people liked that one quite a bit -- but then of course there was drinking involved!<BR><BR>I've also heard good things about the Jack the Ripper tour. For the most part , they're all pretty good so I'd go with what interests you.<BR><BR>Enjoy London!<BR><BR>PW

We went on a lot of walking tours during our stay a few years ago (1997). London Walks was without a doubt the best group there. We enjoyed the Beatles tour, Jack the Ripper, the Charles Dickens, the Ghost walk (London Hauntings?) and the Pub tours. <BR><BR>If you only have time to do one, pick whichever one looks the most interesting to you. You won't be disappointed.

The best of the regularly scheduled daytime Original London Walks is the Sunday morning Greenwich walk that starts with the boat ride from the Tower of London. They also do it on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Their absolutely very best walk is the Sunday morning Edward Petherbridge's Theatreland Walk. But he only does it occasionally, once a month or less. Amongst their evening pub walks, I prefer the Chelsea one, but the popular "Along the Thames" pub walk, ending up at the George Inn is excellent and probably should be anyone's first.
