Since there are only 2 of you who I assume can share a double bed you might want to look at Priceline (but do check the neighborhoods carefully). There's a chance you may find a bargain.

Both of these are central and within easy transportation reach.

and

I've stayed in both within the past month. You can get a basic room, which means sharing a bath with maybe one or two other rooms, breakfast and VAT within your budget, easily. Both are clean and comfortable, the bathrooms are kept spotless throughout the day, and they have a friendly, homey feel. My fastidious daughter and I loved them both.

If those don't work out, search tripadvisor.com for "B&B Hotels" and pay attention to the ratings, which I have found to be accurate, and the maps. There are several in the King's Cross area and Bloomsbury.

erach: Both of stokebailey's suggestions are in much MUCH better locations than any of the places you've listed. Like 100,000% better!

I just popped on the airbnb site & found 3 places in your budget. Not sure if they have availablity.
soho studio 137$ Flat by Big Ben 130$ Notting Hill studio 139$
All have kitchens. I have several friends & family that have used this site & love it.

I strongly urge you to review the options on airbnb.com. I was able to find an apartment in Kensington/Bayswater for 4 adults for a fair price for 18-24 June. The "fair" price meaning the price per night per person is the same as yours.

Good luck!

Be very careful w/ airbnb. You might suss out a great deal . . . but be sure to ask here before booking anything through the site. Sometimes the owners play a bit fast and loose w/ where the property actually is. We can look for red flags/issues that a first timer might not catch.

travelzoo uk has a serviced apartment for £99 in a pretty good location... a little outside your budget, i know... however, it's only until june 9. you didn't say when in june you will be there...

i am also searching hotels in london right now... it doesn't work for us, as it's 15 min walk from the tube.... but jetsetter has a great rate on the Bermondsey Square Hotel right now... in june it's a little more at $165 us... but it gets really good reviews... very few average or poor.
