London - US half dollars

My appologies tht this is only very very tentatively linked to travel.

Would anyone travelling to the UK in the near future be prepared to bring a roll or two of half dollar coins?

There is a reason for my request, a good friend of mine is currently trying to learn some coin magic and needs half dollars. I'm not sure exactly why, something to do with the box you put money in to make it disapear and the size is good for 'palming'.

I know they are not in general circulation so this would require someone to possibly order them from a bank.

We are in the midlands but would be prepared to travel to London to collect them. We would of course pay face value for them and buy a drink / coffee / lunch or two as a thank you.

Thank you in advance

I wouldn't mind doing it but I doubt I could collect enough between now & next month when I go to London. I could check with my bank, though.

Also check ebay. Some sellers will ship world-wide. There are several listings for circulated 50 cent pieces including rolls.

thank you.

Ye4s w have checked e-bay but once you add postage from the US they are really expensive.

And the ones sold on the UK e-bay tend to be for collector £5 - £7 and, well i supose i'm a cheapskate.

If you can get a couple even that wuld be great,

Just looked online and found there are people who travel around buying up fifty-cent pieces from the banks looking for silver! I will check my bank and get back to you. We are coming beginning of June.

Not long ago, many casinos use the half-dollar in 50-cent denomination slot machines. But these days, most have moved to cash tickets.
