London up to Birmingham-which town to overnight in?

Anyone have a suggestion to a cute town to stay at this weekend between Heathrow airport and Birmingham? I travel to England alot for work but have only been to this area on a vacation 40 years ago-Warwick,Stratford,Oxford,etc.Any cute towns that would be fun and interesting for my son and I to check out this weekend on our way up to Birmingham? Thanks-

By car? Train? Have you considered exploring Birmingham itself?

Lots and LOTS of options. But yes, we'd need to know if you are driving or taking public transport.

OK -car, check. So in no particular order, here are some interesting/attractive towns/villages:

Woodstock, Chipping Campden, Burford. All are w/i a reasonable drive from LHR and to B'ham. Depending on what you want - Burford might be good. A very nice town - not too big but several pubs, restaurants, shops, a terrific 'wool' church, river/swans/Cotswold charm. And convenient to lots of places.

Second the suggestion of Burford!
