London Underground - When is the morning rush over?

My flight arrives at 6:20am on a Wednesday at Heathrow. I want to take the Tube to Leicester Sq. Should I hang out at the airport until after 9am to miss the crowds? I'll have one carry-on with wheels, and a messenger bag.
Thanks.

It's probably best to hop the tube ASAP. At that time of the morning, it shouldn't be too bad. Good luck.

The rush hour ends about 09.30 - 10.00. I think you will be ok at 6.20, it will get more and more growded as you head in to central London. It takes about 1 hour, so at 7.20 it will start getting a little mad, but you should be OK.

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping I don't get delayed going through customs/immigration.

Heathrow is the beginning/end of the Piccadilly line, so the train will be relatively empty regardless of the time. Of course it will fill-up, and it may get crowded, but you & your luggage will be fine. No need to waste time at the airport.

Actually I think the rush hour on the Picadilly line doesn't usually end till about midnight (only half kidding). I agree not to wait. The one time we did it, it was pouring rain out, so while it was empty at the beginning, it became extremely crowded. Just straddle your luggage and ignore the dirty looks you may get. I just wouldn't dominate an area by spreading out the luggage -- which would of course be rude.

Take a car at the beginning or end of the train.
