Thanks for the help out there. A spontaneous trip to London for 9 days, meeting my daughters coming from Christian missions training in Switz and Norway. Any recommendations for a Church service that's alive on Sun A.M.? Will be staying near Blackfriars Bridge. Also, what's the best way to purchase 9 days worth of public transport travel. Finally, where's the best exchange rate found. Thank you! May God truly bless you!!!

You can purchase a 7 day Travelcard that will allow you one week of unlimited use of the London Underground and buses. For days 8 &amp; 9 you can purchase daily Travelcards, or if days 8&amp; 9 fall on a Saturday &amp; Sunday, you can purchase a weekend Travelcard. The Travelcards are available at any London Underground station.<BR>The 7 day Travelcard purchase requires you to provide either a passport sized photograph or a head shot of yourself that you have cut from a larger snapshot.<BR><BR>

pandora answered the transport question - definitely get a i-week travel card and then the other 2 days can be daily passes.<BR><BR>As for church services - there are wonderful service everywhere - but since you are near Blackfriars - why not go to one of the two BIGGIES. Either St Pauls or Westminster Abbey.<BR><BR>St Pauls is a very short walk from Blackfriars.<BR><BR>The best exchange rates? You get the best rate using your ATM card to get cash. Much better than travelers checks or exchanging cash. ATM and credit cards give you the best rates.

Janis' suggestions of St Pauls or Westminster Abbey for services are excellent, but you asked for a service &quot;that's alive&quot; which makes me think that the formality of Cathedral services may not be what you had in mind? You will find beautiful liturgy and choral music there, but if you are looking for a more evangelical flavour (and probably coffee afterwards!), you could try Holy Trinity Brompton, in Knightsbridge (near the Victoria and Albert Museum)(http://www.htb.org.uk/). Or have a browse through http://www.christianweb.org.uk/pages/Churches/London for other possibilities.

Perhaps you would like to go cross the river to Southwark Cathedral, or Temple Church nearby.

You may want to consider St Paul Cathedral or Westminster Abbey the surroundings are impressive too. As for the exchange rate your credit card probably failing that you can get usually get good rates at Covent Garden.

Try attending the Metropolitan Tabernacle, which was pastored by the venerable Charles Spurgeon for decades. It continues to maintain a vibrant ministry in London.

Ty, having come from British stock, I think London and lively church service may well be an oxymoron!
