London trip - Goring or Capital

Trip to London next month. Goring and Capital hotels look similar in location, cost. Any comments about either appreciated.

Stayed w/my teenage son, one night at the Capital last July. Loved the room- wonderful blend of traditional decor & modern conviences. Service was warm & attentive. Loved the proximity to Harrods. Can't comment on other choice.

Just to clarify, you're talking about the Goring on Beeston Place, behing Buckingham Palace? We've stayed there twice, the most recent time was last April. It is really lovely and the staff are very personable. The concierge gave us bread to feed to the ducks in the park and the doorman has agreed to meet my parents in Amarillo (joking) and buy them drinks!

If money were no object, this is the place we'd always stay in London. I believe it has gotten a couple of bad reviews on tripadvisor, but our experiences there have been great.

Don't know the Goring, but I love the Capital. Great service, location. I prefer this location to the Goring's.
Saw on the Capital website that they now have apartements too. That would be nice.

Oh, and if you're staying at the Capital, on the corner of Basil Street and Harrods there's now a new Patisserie Valerie.

Thank you, all. We decided to stay at The Capital and appreciate the affirmations. We'll look for the Patisserie Valerie.
