London Transport Question
 

I need to get from Gloucester Road tube station to Bexleyheath Station this Sunday.

I have checked Southeastern Train's website. There is no service from Charing Cross.

My choice is either:
10:04 train from Cannon Street station (change at London Bridge)
or
10:15 train from London Bridge (same train I'd take if I leave from Cannon Street)

I also checked the Tube's website. Cannon Street tube station is closed on Sundays. And Jubilee line will be closed between Stanmore and Waterloo on Sunday.

So my choices are:

1) District/Circle line from Gloucester Rd station to Mansion House. Then walk to Cannon Street station and take the 10:04 train.

2) District/Circle line from Gloucester Rd station to Embankment, then either Bakerloo line to Elephant & Castle, then Northern line to London Bridge. And take the 10:15 train.

Both options will require me to leave around the same time from Gloucester Rd station. Is one option better than the other? My understanding is the London Bridge tube station is not right at the London Bridge Rail station. How far is the walk btw the 2?

In all seriousness why on earth are you going to Bexleyheath? It's a dump.

Re London Bridge - the two stations are part of the same complex but do allow ten minutes to get from one to the other as it's a bloody big complex.

If you're not carrying luggage and it's not raining, why not get the District or Circle line to Monument, then walk across London Bridge. For any journey, I'd allow plenty of time in case there's an unexpected delay. If you have time to spare, go for a walk by the river or around Southwark Cathedral.

The Transport for London website suggests underground to Victoria, the Southeastern train to Bexleyheath. That looks straightforward, and journey time is 55 minutes.

The problem isn't so much getting from the tube to London Bridge mainline (it's simply a matter of making sure you DON'T take the exit to Borough High Street, and going up the set of escalators marked for "National Rail"), it's the roundabout way you're quoting to get there from Gloucester Road.

There's less distance to walk from Mansion House to Cannon St than from Monument (exit on to London Bridge) to London Bridge station, either of which strikes me as preferable (unless it's pouring with rain) to a double change to double back on the tube.

Just keep your eyes closed whilst in Bexleyheath!

Actually - it's not offensive it's just bloody dull.

I don't know why when I looked it up (and I've done it at least a dozen times), I wasn't given the option of taking Southeastern Train from London Victoria.

Anyway, if I take the train from London Victoria (9:41am), it still connects at London Bridge for the 10:15am to Bexleyheath (arr 10:45am). I don't know why chartley got a schedule that only takes 55 minutes???

It looks like I'll still have to leave around the same time to catch the train from London Victoria, but I think this is the best option: with the least amount of walking and a direct tube ride.

BTW, for my curiosity sake, is Monument stop closer to Cannon Street station or is Mansion House stop closer?

There are clearly no trains from London Victoria to Bexleyheath this Sunday. Sunday services are often different from normal. It would be silly to take the District Line to Victoria, then a train to London Bridge.
Take the Distict or Circle line to Mansion House or Monument, then walk to Cannon Street or London Bridge.

On the map, Mansion House is closer to Cannon St than Monument (and you don't have any problems about choosing the right exit). That would be my favourite.
