london transport and side trips

London pass for 4 days or an oyster card? Who has used a British heritage pass? Is it worth the expense?

The Oyster Card is a way of paying for transportation on London's buses, trains, and trams.

The London Pass and Great British Heritage Pass are used in lieu of paying individual admissions. Whether they are economical or not depends on what sights you want to see and how much they cost. You have to do the math.

Note that many museums in London are free, and twofers apply to others:

The GBHP is a terrific buy for just about anywhere else in the UK - but not very useful in London - especially now that Windsor and the Tower ar no longer included.

The London Pass isn't any sort of bargain for the vast majority of visitors.

Last Oct. spent 4 days in London with my wife. Purchased London Pass with transport. I was unsure at the beginning if it was correct choice. It ended up great and was happy we bought them. Going back 4/14 for 6 days with addition of 3 teenagers. I purchased London Passes for all.

scanr, why did you consider the London Pass was the correct choice?
