London Trains

Will be traveling to London next month and staying at the Reubens Palace Hotel.
Was wondering what train station would be near there to get a train to Leamington Spa?
What would the name of the train station be, and would we be able to walk there from the hotel or would we take the bus or tube?
Thanks for helping us find our way!

If you go to www.nationalrail.co.uk and plug it in it looks like direct trains leave from Marylebone station (which you can reach via the Bakerloo Underground line) or indirect trains leave from Paddington or Euston.

I dont know where Reubens Palace Hotel is...but you can look on the tube map to find your way on the tube to any of the above stations.

Find the address of your hotel, and use http://journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk

to find your way from there to the station you need.

The Rubens is near Victoria Station. Please go to the link provided by jamikins and check schedules from Vic Station to your destination.

Except that the trains to Lemington Spa don't go from Victoria

You ought to check on the National Rail site which line you want. There's no significant difference in journey time between the direct train from Marylebone and the indirect trains from Euston and Paddington. But you might find a substantial difference in price.

All three stations are walkable, if you like walking (Marylebone and Euston about 45-60 mins, though Paddington's really closer to 30 and is mostly across Hyde Park). Not practical with luggage.

To clarify the train line - it's Chiltern Railways. Does that go from the London Marylebone Station to Leamington Spa? We'll be travelling on a Saturday - just for the day - not carrying any luggage. Leaving from Reubens Palace Hotel. So would we take the tube to Marylebone Station?

Npt8 - you can check yourself on www.nationalrail.co.uk by inputting London (all stations) and Leamington Spa and setting the times/dates. It gives you all the train options and times and what station they leave from regardless of the train company. Yes the one I am refering to is Chiltern.

To catch the direct train just head to Marleybone on the tube from Victoria. Its not the most direct station to get to from your position but easy enough to do.

Here is a link to the tube map:

Just curious...whats in Leamington Spa?

Palenque Apr 22nd, 2009 07:19 AM

I have stayed in Leamington Spa a few nights and this is an old, to me faded, spa town with the requisite old Victoria spa edifices, etc. Mildly interesting to a tourist but a great base for Stratford, Warwick, etc. Assume OP has family or friends there otherwise the average tourist would go elsewhere IMO - not that the city hasn't gentrified, etc. in recent years

>>Just curious...whats in Leamington Spa?<<

IIRC, Mrs Bucket and her sister Violet... the one with the sauna and room for a pony.

Good shopping town - the entertainment centre for the area - only s tourist would go out in adjoining Warwick of an evening.

Check out the Leamington Spa peace festival!

Can't be all bad - Napoleon III lived there for a while - as did Alduous Huxley and Frank Whittle.

Good one Patrick! I guess Daisy, Onslow and Rose would be in the old faded part of town.

Patrick, you forgot Violet's Mercedes.

She has a Mercedes, sauna and room for a pony. :-D

I love that show.

I like to think that others may use this site to get information about destinations - if they search "leamington" they will find this - and maybe get a little more info for their own trip.
