London Tour Guides

I have hired a Blue Badge guide/driver to take our family of six adults on a day trip to Bath/Stonehenge, etc. What is the customary tip for these guides, assuming they provide a delighful day?

How much is the total tour costing you? Amount of tip is partly dependent on what you are paying. It won't be a straight % of your cost -- but you wouldn't want to tip £5 on a £200 tour either.

Plus -- you'll also be buying the guide at least lunch, and possibly afternoon tea and/or dinner depending on how long you are out.

600 pounds.

£600 (!) -- are you flying in a private jet :)

Just kidding - and it is for 6 of you so it will have to be a large vehicle. But that does seem awfully high for a day trip.

Since you are presumably also paying for at least one meal - a £40 or £50 tip would be more than generous.

But honestly - is it really £600? Blue Badges are really wonderful - but hopefully the tour includes some special, out-of-the-ordinary "wow's" to account for the cost.

I agree with janisj, that seems HIGH! Of course we just took the train to Bath from London.
