London to Rome, GBP 100?
I've been looking at prices for a ticket from London to Rome. I prefer to fly from LHR, and I prefer BA, althoungh niether is essential. Is GBP 100 a good price for a return flight LHR to FCO?
If not, what would be a good price for a return flight from London to Rome? Thanks in advance. |
Does that price include taxes and fees? If so, I think that is a good price.
I know you prefer LHR, FCO, and BA, but I will nonetheless mention I had a perfectly fine experience flying EasyJet from CIA to LGW. |
WillTravel, thanks for recommending Easyjet. I'll look at their prices.
The BA flight (GBP100) does include taxes. Sorry I didn't mention this in my original post. |
Coincidently last night I was looking up Rome/London on Easyjet in October - quoted as €35 one way. It would be more expensive the other way (higher UK taxes).
The other thing to be aware of is luggage weight allowance and price of checking in a bag. I have flown to Italy several times this year, and 100GBP is not a bad price if you consider more luggage allowance, no checkin baggage fee and on board drink/snack. You may save £10 or so using Easyjet or Ryanair. |
What are your travel dates? Are they flexible? The prices vary so much depending on which days you fly, and how far in advance you book the tickets. I just checked my favorite airline indexing site (www.harefares.com) to see which airlines fly your route. I found that Alitalia has a return flight from June 20 to July 10 for $200 USD (taxes included). There are also 5 or 6 other airlines listed if you don't mind flying out of Stansted or Gatwick instead of Heathrow.

I think GBP100 including taxes/charges on BA LHR-FCO is a great fare. I'd rather avoid flying on Alitalia given the airline's ongoing financial woes.
