London to Paris
Looking for advice on the easiest and least expensive way to get from London to Paris. Checked out Eurostar and its about $298/person! Wow. Any other suggestions?
|
Eurostar is certainly the easiest - city center to city center, no worry about arriving at the airport and getting through security, and much more comfortable in transit. You may find discount airfares, but be sure to factor in the time and cost of getting to and from the airports at either end (especially if it is a remote airport) as well as any extra charges for checked baggage that may increasingly apply on European discount airlines.

The absolutely cheapest way is the Eurolines bus (www.eurolines.com), but it's slow. You may be able to get a Eurostar ticket for less than the fare you quoted. What date do you wish to travel?

Need more info from you:
-Which site are you using to find Eurostar ticket proces? -When is the trip? (The farther ahead you book, generally the cheaper the tix) -Are you visiting London - or are you just arriving in London and immediately heading to Paris? |
Yikes -- that's pricey! We just booked tickets tonight for July 10 from London-Paris, and it was only $188 for the both of us!
|
oops, that should be "Eurostar ticket prices"
|
Have you looked at alternate departure times - prices can vary? Buying a round trip ticket and then using only the first half?
|
I was looking at www.raileurope.com. Are there better sites to buy Eurostar tix?
Beachgirl: Where did you find the $188 fare for two people? Thanks. |
Beachgirl probably found the $94/person fare at www.eurostar.com which is the best site for booking tickets. (I found the same fare there for an arbitrary date I entered.) Note, however, that Eurostar fares vary widely depending upon time of day, day of the week, and how many discount seats have been sold.
