London to Normandy
 

We will be in London for one week in mid-March. We are considering a 2-3 day trip during the week to visit Normandy. What is the best way to get from London to Normandy and back. Is it worth the time if we only have 2-3 days? If we do go, any recommendations for hotels in Normandy or nearby?

We were in Normandy 6 years back, (up from paris rather than across from london) We spent 2 full days and an evening in the area. Evening and one day spent snooping around Caen. One day touring many of the D-Day sites and Bayeux (sp?) This was enough as we saw the highlights, but for me, a big history buff, another day would have been better. Didn't get to Mont St Michel, which would have been nice. Did need a car though.

For hotels, look at www.logis-de-france.fr - these are all reasonably small, usually family run hotels, and all have a restaurant which, in my personal experience, are invariably excellent.<BR><BR>The main part of the site is in French, but look for the British flag and you'll get a translation.
