London to Heathrow

What is the best way to get from central London to heathrow for a 6:45 am flight back to the states?

See the thread on Heathrow to London that is running as I type, but go backwards.

Hi
according to the British Air website with its info on getting to and from Heathrow, the first Tube train from London to Heathrow arrives H'row at 6:29am, too late for your flight.
So you'll apparently need another option.

Book a mini-cab service. Search this forum for suggestions (Skinner, Swiss Cottage Cars). The fare from West End London (e.g. Baker St) to the airport likely would be around 21-24 pounds.

Thanks Elaine. Since we are a family of four I didn't think a mini-cab would do so I changed to a later flight and will take the tube.

hms: I think you misunderstand. A "mini cab" is not a Mini Car. I often take a mini cab to LHR for an early flight - and they always ask how any are traveling. if it is 4 they would send an esatate car (station wagon), large sedan, or mini van.

A mini cab is really just a licensed driver that can only take pre-booked fares - cannot pick up fares on the street or at the airport taxi stand.

a mini cab is the best way to get to LHR early AM - especially since there is almost no traffic at that time of day.
