London to Cornwall

Best way to get from London to Cornwall. I understand there is a train station in Newquay. Does Brit Rail go into Newquay? Or would it be better to take the train to Bristol and pick up a car in Bristol and drive to Cornwall.

Hi

you may find it cheaper to fly ? Depends on dates.

Try www.ryanair.com

Wessex Trains serve Newquay, so it is possible to get there by train from London. You can find schedules on www.nationalrail.co.uk There is no need to rent a car to get there. Whether you need a car to get around once you get there is another question.

Direct train leaves London Paddington Station to Penzance at 0745,1035,1133,1335,1533,1634,1804 and1903.It takes about 5 hours.

To Newquay by train, you have to cange at Par, Depart:0933,1128,1320,1910.

Or you could take bus from Truro to Newquay.

Without a car, it is more convenient to travel by bus in Cornwall.

It mainly depends on how you plan on touring around once you are in Cornwall. The easiest of course is by car. So if I were going to drive around the SW I'd take a train to Bristol, Bath, or Exeter and drive from there -- getting in some extra sightseeing in whichever city you use.

But if you plan on using public transport in the SW, then take the train to Newquay. (or fly as already suggested)
