London - Thistle Hotels

I was wondering if anyone could recommend of all the Thistle properties in London, which would be the nicest. I've eliminated the Thistle Victoria but was wondering about their other hotels. I'm open to staying in any area of London.

Any advice would be appreciated!

A few years ago, I stayed at Trafalgar Square Thistle. The room was nice, the location was great (for me), the only problem I had was at breakfast. The breakfast room was small and the hotel was full. There was always a line and since it was a buffet, people weren't encouraged to eat and leave. Guests stood in line for over an hour. What I'm trying to say is that they had more guests than tables and too much time was wasted on waiting in line.

We stayed in The Thistle Westminster two weeks ago and liked it. The rooms were small but comfortable. The location was great- between Victoria station and Buckingham palace. Continental breakfast
was included and was decent.

The Horseguards is quite luxurious & in a good location near the Thames off of Whitehall. The Kensington Palace & Kensington Park Hotels are okay, but don't have much atmosphere (but sometimes have some very good rates).

Thistle is having quite a sale on its website, www.thistlehotels.com -- I'm booked into the Thistle Bloomsbury over Thanksgiving. The rate is 45 pounds per night, including breakfast and all taxes. Actually spoke to the reservationist about the Internet rate, as I called the 800# to see if there were any other specials, and the reservationist told me that she had never seen such a low rate at this specific Thistle. It's very close to the British Museum and within walking distance to the West End/Covent Gardens.

A friend of mine stayed at the Thistle Horseguards last summer and raved about the hotel, but it is the best one and most expensive in the chain.

I stayed at the Royal Horseguards in February, and it was absolutely wonderful. Very luxurious and great location. We got it on Priceline for $100 USD!

I stayed at the Thistle Lancaster Gate (opposite Kensington Gardens) in early July. Paid 40 pounds, sharing, per night. Rate included a huge English breakfast - hot and cold food. Rooms small but clean. Some had been renovated, others not.

I stayed at the Thistle Marble Arch. Good location, large rooms, large breakfast rooms.

We have stayed at the Tower Thistle several times - although the location near the Tower and Bridge is not everyones choice - we always enjoy it immensely. Particularly looking out on the river and being along side the St. Katherine's Dock area.
The Hotel has become increasingly popular as a business hotel since the opening of the Dock areas.
We can highly recommend it - service, food, and rooms.

We stayed at the Royal Horseguard and really loved it. It's in a nice quiet area but only a short walk to Trafalgar Square and the Tube.

Leslie - Is that 45 pounds rate per person or per room?

Thanks for all your replys! I am going to sort through and check out each hotel. I'll let you know what I decide.
