London swimming pools
Will be staying at the Renaissance Chancery Court for five days. This hotel does not have a pool. Even tho I have a busy schedule planned, I would like to include some lap time if I can find a pool that will give me a daily or weekly pass. I know the Hilton and the Dolphin Square have pools available to guests but how about someone staying elsewhere? I plan to be on the same schedule as usual which means I'll be on the move at 5:30 AM so I know I can work swim time into my day. Even with or especially with all the walking I plan on doing I need to stretch out in the water. Thanks

The Berkeley Hotel has a fabulous pool, and I think they offer weekly passes, but I bet it's exorbitant. What about some of the local health clubs?

I know the Rembrandt (kensington) has a program worked out with the local health club and guests can use the pool.
I would email the Renaissance Chancery Court and ask them where the nearest health club with a pool is for you to get a few day passes...I would think most gyms would be happy to offer you and day pass. |
Don't know about the Chancery Court, but many hotels in London have agreements w/ nearby health clubs for guest memberships. And even if the Chancery Courts doesn't - the concierege can probably hook you up w/ one.

you can also go to swimmersguide.com; they have a full data base of pools worldwide, hours, location, costs, etc. We use it a lot when travelling and have found the info to be accurate.

i must say that i normally skip swimming when i travel. for one, my body is used to my pool and enviornment. and i really don't want to get an ear/sinus infection or sick in general while traveling. different pools and germs, but maybe i worry too much.
and as for stretching. i am very flexible...30 year old male and can nearly do the splits. but i stretch on land...same routine that i would do after swimming and it does a great job. and five days isn't long enough to really affect your flexability. otherwise like cmeyer54 said: swimmersguide.com |
