London sightseeing...the best plan
I have read all the London posts. Very helpful, I have my list. THe problem is I am not too gifted at reading maps. I found a post that grouped the attractions by location but I can't find it again.
If know what I am referring to please send! So in final days...need to group sites by location to save time. Please send suggestions...first time visitors so interested in the popular attractions. ALso, if any ideas of where to grab a bite to eat close to any of the sights please send that info too. |
joebear,
What I do for my trips is two things: 1. Get a cheap map from say the hotel (email and ask them to mail) or even a good map. I then go through and highlight all of the places I may visit, number them and then group them myself in a document. It helps me to plan my movements around the city. 2. Use Google Earth to identify the locations of the places and even the route to take to move from place to place. This isn't all that necessary in London, but in Rome, where the streets may be a block long and not show up on a map, I have found it to be a lifesaver. An example: the first time we ate at da Baffetto we roamed around for about a half hour trying to find it. The next trip I used Google Earth to plot a course from Piazza Navona to the front door and we got there in two minutes. Good luck. |
Okay...that is a super idea. Thanks!

1- Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament, Whitehall, 10 Downing St, Buckingham Palace (changing of guard) are one cluster-
from Parliament go over the bridge to the South Bank and the London Eye all within a mile or so 2- Trafalgar Square, the West End Theatre District, Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden 3- Tower of London, Tower Bridge, St Paul's Cathedral, Tate Modern three main clusters |
We liked this map - we printed it out and had it with us in London just in case we ended up with extra time http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloa...al_bus_map.pdf
We actually walked most places or used the tube, but the bus info could come in handy as well. Have fun! |
Thank you that is a great map, I printed a couple to take along.
