London Shopping

Travelling to London this August for work and really hope to find some great shops and markets. I would love some advice on the markets and vintage stores in London. I'm only there for a few days so have to fit in a lot in that time. Also, hoping to find a nice antique mirror while I'm there.

Be prepared to pay through the nose since the dollar is so weak. You could try Alfie's or Antiquarius on the King's Road. Brighton has a great car boot sale on Sundays right next to the train station if you can make it.

Here are a few addresses that I have in my 'London file' for vintage clothes:
Alfies Antique Market NW8:"The girl can't help it.
Vintage Modes 1-7 Davies Mews W1
Rellik, 8 Golborne Road
One of a Kind, 253 Portobello Road
Antiquarius on the Kings Road - Steinberg & Tolkien
Portobello Road Market on Saturday morning (antiques and clothes)
Camden Market
I believe that Topshop on Oxford Circus has a vintage section too.

For an antique mirror I would try Portobello Road, or for more expensive antiques Kings Road (quite far down the King's Road, the part near Chelsea Harbour and further down). Or Pimlico Road

If you had more time, I would suggest scouring the charity shops...all kinds of things turn up at those from time to time. At one of the shops here (in the burbs) we saw a very nice looking wood-framed older mirror last week (no idea if it's a genuine antique) for £15. If you happen to pass any, suggest you pop in for a quick check.

Tulips' list is very helpful.

These tips are great, thank you. BTilke, that mirror for 15 pounds sounds too good to be true. What suburb did you find that in? Tulips, I'm definitely going to check out some of the markets you mentioned.
