Any experiences at Royal Horseguards hotel, good or bad ??? Don't miss tours for the first time visitor ??? Specific tour group recommendations ??? London to Normandy, best way ???

We stayed at the Royal Horseguards last December, just before Christmas. It was excellent. My sons particularly liked the showers, which they want me to install at home now. Comfy beds, quite big rooms, lovely big deep baths to soak in, nice breakfast. We ate dinner there twice and it was also excellent. The location is very convenient for the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, and is only a block from the nearest Tube. I would stay there again.

My husband and I stayed at Horseguards a couple of years ago and can only say HOORAH!! It was spectacular. We stayed two nights after a cruise and did not want to leave -it is a wonderful location for everything we wanted to do and see and the staff was terrific. Absolutely, book it book it book it

The hop on/hop off buses are fabulous in the nice weather. Scenery is sensational from the open air upper decks.

For many reasons, we prefer the Original Tour to the Big Bus. Though, if you take the Original Tour, take the yellow route (live commentary) versus the red route (recorded commentary in selection of languages). The live commentary on all the Original Tour buses was terrific - informative and often quite hillarious. The major difference between the yellow route and the red route is that the red route goes to Madame Tussaud's and is recommended for folks with children (toys, coloring books, etc.) and non-English speaking people wishing commentary in a foreign language (recorded).
