Agree with bitter's Lamb and Flag recommendation...a bit hard to find in an alley near Covent Garden, but very atmospheric...I think Charles Dickens used to frequent the place?

You are aware that this thread is nearly three years old?

Well, I do know of Beacon Court in Gillingham. My dear GrandmotherIL would hang herself if she knew her pub was a rock, rap, whatever music venue!
|
I knew it was 3 years old, but I topped it in hopes of getting updated recommendations. I appreciate the recommendations so far. Although the Guy Ritchie pub doesn't quite peak my interest, if we're near by, we may just pop in...
|
If you fancy the Ritchie pub, try and have a look in the Church in Farm St. It's the HQ of the Jesuits in Britain and well worth a look (if you can get past gawpers from the Da Vinci Code treks.)
There's no such thing as a "good recommendation" for pubs as they are all different. It's all a question of what you like, and where you are and what you're doing. |
A friend of mine visits a pub know to its regulars as "THE ELEPHANTS GRAVEYARD".
Its situated near Marble Arch.......boheminian sort of place. Good for a laugh so I hear. |
Hmm......
Either crdtny or the friend is teasing a little. You won't find a pub under that name, of course, but if you did, I suspect it's the one where you would find its clientele is mostly the older sort of gentleman and his (male) admirers. Nothing to unsettle the broadminded Fodorite, but not likely to be what the OP is looking for. |
Dirty Dick's was a lot of fun - Everyone was great - they even gave me several pub glasses!!
