London place to stay for large group (extended family)

My extended family (7 adults and 6 kids -- kids are 2 through 8 years) are looking for a moderately-priced place to stay for a week in London next summer. Any suggestions for house/flat rentals? Thanks in advance.

What do you consider "moderate"?

With that crowd I'd be concerned about the number of bathrooms available, not just sleeps. Best bet may be to look for multiple apartments in the same building or at least in the same area.

DH & I stayed at the Copthorne Tara hotel:

It's a big hotel that caters to business travelers. We saw several flight crews from around the world during our week there.

This hotel is in a nice neighborhood, has several good quality restaurants nearby (good quality & reasonable prices), and it's near a train station.

You can book online to get better rates. I think you can also pay ahead of time to lock in a good rate.

Our room was basic, but clean. And even though our window faced the train tracks we never really heard the trains, so it was pretty quiet.

Well this sounds like you need at least 6 bedrooms - and presumably at least 6 baths - which I think you are very unlikely to find in a house.

Agree you may be better off trying to get several apartments in one building or nearby buildings. Most apartments/houses in europe don;t have as many baths as you would expect in the US - unless they are quite upscale - since they tend to be older - before the bath for every bedroom rule. And you don;t want 13 people with only 2 or 3 baths.

Thanks to all for the great suggestions! Does anyone know of any good apartment buildings where we might be able to lease a couple of apartments for a week? Maybe two three-bedroom apartments? I'd like to be near the tube and no more than 15/20 minutes to London attractions. Does anyone know if the Mansions at Earl's Court is any good?

By "moderate," we'd ideally like to spend less than $5,000 for 6 nights. Thanks!

Cripes I just saw you are willing to go to $5000.00 for 6 nights. Check out hotels on Londontown.com. You could get 6 rooms for well inder that in nice hotels

I probably should clarify . . . $5000 U.S. dollars (not pounds). Thanks.

This place sleeps 12 but you might contact them to see if an extra 2 yo could accommodated.

£1725 -- or about $2750
