London Pass with Travel Card?

Patrick London and janisj and everyone else::

Patrick, Since you suggested the Travel Card, I also looked at the London Pass.

janisj: Things we are interested in doing:

Churchill War Rooms
Hampton Court
Windsor Palace
Apsley House
Thames River cruise
Kew Gardens
HMS Belfast
Britain at War
Shakespeare's Globe

You are all right. We will be using the Clapham Junction train station, but there is a bus stop right outside of the apt.

I am thinking about getting the LondonPass for 6 days. Should I get the Travel Card with it?

Does that make sense? When we were in Paris, we saw so many more things because we had the pass. Adding the above things is more than the cost of the pass, but is there another type of pass that is a 2 for 1? I keep hearing about that, but I can't find it.
Thanks

I thought I answered this on one of your other threads. You will have a hard time getting to all those places in 6 days. That is why the LP isn't really such a bargain -- yes, it covers a lot of places, but you'd have to run flat out to get to enough of them to make it pay. And that assumes you aren't also going to lots of other places in London, many of which are free.

Kew takes much of a day - it is huge. Hampton Court Palace is pretty much a full day once you factor in transport to/from. same w/ Windsor. So to get you money's worth you'd have to pretty much ignore every other site in London (all the museums etc) and just concentrate on LP-covered properties.

The "2 for 1" promotion gives two entrances for the price of one when you have a train ticket (and a printed on-line voucher) It isn't a "pass" but a discount you get for riding trains.

The "Transport Option" of the LC forces you into a 6-zone Travelcard. Virtually every sight in London (out as far as Greenwich) lies within Zones 1-2. So buying the other four zones would be a horrific waste of money.

So we're now done. We'll just take the days as they come while we are there.

the oyster card it is. Now I know we'll just have to go back again.
