I'm trying to plan an 8 day London-Paris trip. I'm nervous about booking the hotels on my own. When I went to Italy I had help from an agency that specializes in Italy. I can't seem to find a company who can help me for London-Paris. Suggestions?

Easy. The best place is Fodors.com.
You can find more good suggestions and info here about hotels in London and Paris than just about anywhere. Booking is easy -- generally direct by email or by fax -- once you make your decision.
Search here for suggestions once you know a price range and area you want and don't be afraid to ask SPECIFIC questions here about specific choices before making a final decision. I'm not sure why you'd want some "agency" to book you.

It is so easy to book on your own. You will get many wonderful hotel suggestions from folks on here if you give an idea of your budget and areas you'd like to stay.
Most hotels will have a web page 9so you can see photos of the rooms) and you can simply email them and set up your reservations. You can also check reviews of the hotels on tripadvisor.com.
No need to use an agency at all!

passport, I found a good place to find good deals on hotels in London is www.londontown.com. Check out the hotels on tripadviser and their own websites and do a search here to see what others have said.

I just did a London/Paris trip and stayed at Relais Bosquet in Paris. My 3rd visit there and I couldn't be happier with it. My favorite area in London is right around the Glouchester Tube station. There are several hotels in the area. I pick what comes up best on Londontown.com.

Is so easy to do it on your own. I've done it two years in a row.
I just did 5 days London, Eurostar to Paris-stayed 4 days, Eurostar back to London for 4 days then home to the U.S.

try venere.com (or ratestogo for last minute). venere is nice as travellers have hotel ratings for some of the properties. (but i also cross reference with tripadvisor as recommended by others). Bring paper confirmation with you no mater how you book. It is invaluable if there is a snaffu. If you call directly get someones name and have them then send you email or snail mail coonfirmation. Remember, the worst that can happen is that the hotel is lousy! You can usually find something else and you will have amusing tales of the fleabag to regale your friends..That being said, i have one friend who always books her first night through a large travel agency though independently books the rest. She wants to assure that she can call some if there is a problem. she finds that thae last thing she wants to do post jetlag is argue or look for another place. this paid of in spades a few yrs ago. she arrived with 2 kid (10 and 14) and ther was a problem at check in. she called a 800 number and that large company dealt with alt. arrangements..
