London-Paris trip help
Thanks for guiding me on the right protocol
My 16-year-old son and I are planning our first trip to Europe Arrive London 8/14 at 10pm - stay at The Park Lane Hotel lv for Paris 8/17 Arrive Paris 8/17 afternoon - stay at Le Meridien Montparnasse lv Paris for London 8/22 My son is in his 4th year of French and I can order wine. I want to make the most of this trip, but have no idea how to start. We want to pack as much into our stay as possible. |
I cannot say anything about Paris because I haven't been there but don't do day trips in London, three days are only to scratch the surface of the city, and probably, you will be fighting against jet lag on the first one, so you will be a bit in a hurry :)
I will do a open-top bus tour on the first day to give you an idea of everything (you can hop off-hop on as much as you like) and then focus on what looks more interesting for you, read a guide before the trip and visit http://www.visitlondon.com, they have also some downloadable publications. |
The very first thing you want to do is click the "destinations" on this page. There is a LOT of good info for both London and Paris.
That will get you started. Then you can come back w/ more detailed questions. So far you haven't given us anything to work w/ other than your son speaks French and you can order wine. |

Gerbs,
I grabbed the threads below from other people's posts to questions similar to yours Here is a thread with TONS of info about London with young teens: http://fodors.com/forums/threadselec...p;tid=34774808 Here is a link to the "London Superthread", which is a bit older, but has lots of information about London http://fodors.com/forums/threadselec...p;tid=34548473 See Paris Superthread http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34519236 100 Great Things to Do in Paris http://fodors.com/forums/threadselec...mp;tid=1277898 Degas’s Paris Walks http://fodors.com/forums/threadselec...p;tid=34712768 There is a lot to digest in the five threads lited above. After you've looked at through them, come back with any specific questions you have. |
Your son might be interested in the Segway tours in Paris. They are probably mentioned in one of the above threads highlighted by Bardo.

Hi
Feel free to check out my Paris trip report on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com/Paris_France.htm . My wife and I went there in April and I have posted pictures and links in the trip report that might be of some help to you :-) Get in touch if you have any questions or comments. Have you bought a guidebook to Paris yet? :-) Regards Gard Stavanger, Norway |
There are some additional, useful links posted by ira on your "other" thread. Perhaps ira will post them here.
Best wishes, Rex |
