London or France

My wife and I are planning a weeks trip to either London or Paris in March. Would like suggestions on which one we should choose from people who have visited. thanks

Since you don't tell us your interests, budget, foreign travel experience or anything else I'll take a stab at it.

Toss a coin. :-D

I went to both in February - split the time in 1/2. Flew into Paris and took the Eurostar to London. I saw alot but I didn't spend as much time as I wanted to. I'm going back to London for 5 days in October, and want to go back to Paris in February for a week. This way I can see what I missed. The cities are different. Paris reminded me of what I though Europe always would be like.London, except for the Old London part, was like a big city and I didn't think as pretty because the buildings were higher and alot of glass downtown which I didn't think was very attractive. But the Tower and Westminister Cathedral among other things are not to be missed. I also loved the food in Paris. Paris seemed more romantic, but then I watch chick flicks all the time too. If I could only see one city, I'd chose Paris, but I think you really need to see both. Maybe two trips or one long trip where you could see both cities and enjoy them. Either city, you will not get over how ornate and grand everything is - very different than the US.

Paris seems more foreign, less familiar, to me as an American. That can be either positive or negative, depending on what you want. Different language, more unfamiliar food. London is a great city for theater, if you like that, while Paris does not have much English language theater.

Both cities are great for art, history. Both are easy to navigate by public transportation. London is more expensive.

My sugestion would be to read trip reports here for both places and see which trips spark your imagination the most.

If you can only take a week, you should choose one or the other. With 10 days, it would make sense to see both. Having been to both Paris and London often, my heart is with Paris and I return at least two times for every time I visit London. But each person is different and you have to do some research to see which one appeals most to you.

The exchange rate is not very good for Americans (I'm making an assumption you are?) in either place but London is REALLY expensive right now. Ofcourse that could change by March. If money is an issue, I'd pick Paris. But as others have said, knowing nothing about you and your wife, it's impossible to say.

Choose either ONE - they are both great destinations. As mentioned, hotels/meals can be much cheaper in Paris. I don't have a preference - I love both.
