London Olympics Accommodations
 

Hello:

My husband and I are planning to be in London to attend the Olympics during the week of Aug. 5 - Aug. 12. Looking for an apartment or condo rental, $200 - $250 per night for a 1 bedroom. We also might share a 2 bedroom with another couple of friends who will also be there that week, so might go up to $400 - $450 per night for a 2 bedroom.

Any recommendations for reputable agencies to assist us with finding something? We would like to be withing reasonable commuting distance by train of the Stratford area where the Olympic Park is located.

If hotels would do look at TheBiddingTraveler.com. Youll find what hotels and prices are popping up on Priceline. You might find one close to your Olympic venues.

Small flats that normally run $200-$250 (£125-£150) are running 2 - 3+ times that for the Olympics period. And many have been booked up for 6 months.

Priceline really isn't bringing very many wins for that timeframe. The best known/longest established sites for checking winning bids are biddingfortravel.com and betterbidding.com

Try londontown.com . . . and don't be shocked at what hotels are asking.

A few hotel chains are bucking the trend for sky-high prices. For example, Imperial London Hotels group in Bloomsbury near British Museums are only insisting on no-refund booking of minimum 3 days for the Olympics, at the usual rates.

A few weeks ago the Telegraph ran a very similar article to the one MissPrism linked. That many of the inflated rentals are going begging. It also said many landlords weren't lowering the asking yet though - hoping that late bookings would come in.
